Welcome to the Robot Learning Lab of
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. We are a group of a faculy member and students affiliated with the
Department of Computer Science, working on machine learning problems in robotics.
The question driving this research is:
How can a robot learn from its own experience to perform complex manipulation tasks?
This research is motivated by challenges that arise from acting in stochastic unstructured environments, while receiving noisy and high-dimensional
input data such as images. Machine learning provides powerful tools for solving problems in robotics that, due to
their complexity, cannot be addressed solely by engineering. Our goal is to build fully autonomous robotic systems that can assist human workers in workshops, factories and warehouses, while constantly improving and learning from their experience.
